The St. Catherine of Siena Lay Dominican Fraternity is a local chapter of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) based in Calgary, Alberta. As part of the vibrant Calgary Lay Dominicans community, we are a group of lay men and women dedicated to following Christ more closely through the Dominican way of life, all while remaining actively engaged in our families, parishes, and professional vocations.
Rooted in the four foundational pillars of the Dominican tradition—prayer, study, community, and apostolic service—we strive to grow in holiness, deepen our understanding of the faith, and share the Gospel with clarity and compassion.
We gather for monthly meetings at Holy Spirit Church in Calgary, where we pray together, receive formation, and support one another in our spiritual and apostolic commitments. Our meetings include the Liturgy of the Hours, study sessions on Dominican spirituality and theology, and time for fraternal sharing and discernment.
As a committed part of the Dominican Fraternity, our Lay Dominicans engage in:
- Daily prayer, especially the Rosary and Liturgy of the Hours
- Ongoing study of Sacred Scripture, Church teaching, and Dominican thought
- Life in community through mutual support and shared mission
- Apostolic service in our parishes, families, workplaces, and wider society
Our fraternity is an integral part of the larger Dominican Family, inspired by the witness of St. Dominic, St. Catherine of Siena, and many other Dominican saints and blesseds who preached the truth in love. We welcome those who feel drawn to a deeper life of faith, study, and service within our Christian community.
